Gender predictor: What are my options?
The field of gender selection is growing every single day. New moms everywhere are fretting over the gender of their unborn child. Without a magic gender predictor, we must turn to science to solve the problem. There are a number of options available to a parent wanting to choose the gender of their baby. For the most part, there are two categories of gender predictor methods: high tech and low tech or natural methods.
High tech methods are all of the methods and techniques of gender prediction which involve lots of money and a lab for the most part. These techniques include the Ericcson method, PGD, PGH, and MicroSort.
The Ericcson method is widely disputed among experts, since there is no clinical evidence backing up its effectiveness. This means that the chances of this method influencing your babys gender are about the same as a tarot card choosing your babys gender. Surprisingly this method is still widely available throughout the US and Europe.
PGD stands for preimplantation genetic diagnosis. This technique involves IVF or invitro fertilization. The eggs are collected from the mother, and then they are fertilized by the fathers sperm in a lab. They are then left to incubate (again, in a lab) for a few days until they have grown to a few cells across, at which point they are screened for genetic defects and of course gender. The new embryo is than implanted into the mother and voila. This method has a 100% success rate, but it is expensive, invasive, and since it involves IVF you have no guarantee of getting pregnant. PGH is an updated version of PGD.
Microsort is a little bit less effective than PGD. Microsort uses centrifuges to seperate "male" and "female" sperm in male semen. The mother is then artificially inseminated with either male or female sperm, resulting in the sex of choice. However this is only around 75% effective. The afforementioned techniques are invasive, expensive, and to some people they are unethical. What do you do if you want the effectiveness of these techniques without the risk?
You go natural! I suggest the method called "How to Pick the Gender of Your Baby" written by Dr. Ashley Spencer. She outlines step by step in plain english how you can pick the gender of your child from the comfort of your home- no labs! You see, the science of natural gender selection has come leaps and bounds. A large group of people concerned by the ethical implications of tampering with DNA started the natural gender selection movement, and it is just as valid a technique as the so called "high tech" methods. In fact, her system manages a 94.8% accuracy rate... and even offers you a money back guarantee if you're not satisfied. If you're serious about choosing the gender of your baby, I would go with a 100% natural method, why risk it?
